About Durgavati Reservoir

A dam across the Durgavati river at Karmchat, finished in 2014, has made a long reservoir that fills a valley between Kaimur ridges on the Kaimur-Rohtas border. It is the closest thing this part of Bihar has to a hill lake, with boating run from the dam end and the ridge lines reflected in still water on a winter evening. Local families come for picnics on Sundays. Shergarh Fort overlooks the valley from the Rohtas side.
