About Ita Fort
The brick fort the capital is named for: ita means brick, and around 8 million of them went into walls that once ran for several km across three hills. It is dated to the 14th or 15th century and usually put down to the Chutia kings, though nobody is certain. What survives is a long stretch of wall and three gates on a ridge above the town. Half an hour is enough.
