About Hemis National Park

A high altitude park known as the best place in the world to see the snow leopard. It also has the Tibetan wolf, Himalayan ibex, blue sheep and many birds. Winter, from January to March, is the best time for the snow leopard, but sightings are never certain. Rumbak and Yurutse villages offer homestays, and the park is a base for the Markha Valley trek. A permit is needed.
