About Hasanamba Temple
Hasanamba is the presiding goddess of Hassan town and her sanctum opens only once a year, for about a week to ten days around Deepavali in late October or November. Devotees come to see the lamp lit at the previous closing still burning and the flowers and cooked rice offered a year earlier said to be fresh. Queues run for hours on the main days and the town arranges special buses, so plan the visit around the published opening dates. For the rest of the year only the outer temple and the Siddheshwara shrine in the same compound can be visited.
