About Harishchandragad

One of the great all-rounders of the Sahyadris, best known for Konkan Kada, a 1,800-ft concave cliff shaped like a natural amphitheatre, where wind pushes clouds vertically up the face. The fort has 11th-century origins and holds a Shiva temple, rock-cut caves and a stepped water tank. Routes vary hugely: Pachnai is the gentle way up, Nalichi Vaat is a technical gully, Khireshwar the classic middle path.
