About Gola Gokarannath

Called Chhoti Kashi, the busiest Shiva temple in the district. The story is that Ravana, carrying a linga from Kailash to Lanka, set it down here and could not lift it again. The Chaitra fair in March and April runs for weeks and swamps the town; Shivratri and the Mondays of Shravan are also heavy. Thirty km from Lakhimpur.
