About Dudhwa National Park

About 490 sq km of tall sal forest and grassland hard against the Nepal border, a national park since 1977 and a tiger reserve since 1987, largely because Billy Arjan Singh kept pushing for it. Swamp deer herds in the grasslands are the real draw; rhinos brought from Assam and Nepal in 1984 live in a fenced area near Salukapur. Tiger sightings are far less certain than in central India, so come for the forest. Open 15 November to 15 June.
