About Frog Temple, Oel
A Shiva temple built on the back of a large stone frog, the only one of its kind in India. The rulers of Oel, a small Chahamana principality, built it in the 19th century following the Mandook Tantra, and the Narmadeshwar Mahadev linga sits inside an octagonal lotus plan. It is 12 km from Lakhimpur on the Sitapur road and takes an hour.
