About Gol Gumbaz
The tomb of Mohammed Adil Shah, completed in 1656, carries one of the largest single domes in the world, about 44 metres across, without any supporting pillars. Climb the seven storeys of a corner tower to the whispering gallery, where a whisper carries across the dome and a clap echoes many times. Go early in the morning before school groups arrive. The ASI museum in the gateway building holds inscriptions, carpets and Adil Shahi arms.
