About Gautam Sthan, Revelganj
Godna, on the edge of Revelganj where the Ghaghra joins the Ganga, is held to be the ashram of the sage Gautam, husband of Ahalya, and the temple and its ghats are the district’s big Kartik Purnima bathing place, with a fair to go with it. The confluence is broad and quiet in winter, and the old river town of Revelganj, once a British trading post, has some crumbling colonial buildings.
