About Ganga Mandir

Balwant Singh laid the foundation in 1845 and asked every salaried man in the state to give a month of pay towards it; the temple took ninety years and was consecrated by Brijendra Singh in 1937. The result is a large sandstone building in an unusual mix of Rajput, Mughal and southern styles, with the image of the river goddess Ganga installed in the main hall.
