About Band Baretha Wildlife Sanctuary
A dam on the Kakund river built between 1866 and 1897 as the water supply for Bharatpur, with the old royal hunting lodge on the shore. The reservoir and the scrub around it are a bird sanctuary and a quieter alternative to Keoladeo in winter, with a fair number of waterfowl and raptors. Combine it with Bayana fort.
