About Yana Rocks

Yana is a pair of black limestone spires rising out of thick forest in the Sahyadri between Kumta and Sirsi. Bhairaveshwara Shikhara is 120 m tall and has a cave shrine to Shiva at its base; Mohini Shikhara beside it is 90 m. A paved path of about half a kilometre leads from the car park to the rocks and a loop path circles the larger one. The site is 26 km from Kumta and busy at Shivaratri. Expect leeches in the monsoon.
