About Gokarna

Gokarna is a small temple town with a string of beaches to its south. The Mahabaleshwar temple holds the atmalinga and is one of the main Shiva pilgrimages of the coast, with Shivaratri as its big festival. Beyond the town beach a cliff path links Kudle, Om, Half Moon and Paradise beaches, a walk of about 6 km that most people spread over a day. Gokarna Road station is 8 km out and Kumta is the nearest big town.
