About Vantawng Falls

The highest waterfall in Mizoram at 229 metres, on the Vanva river 5 km south of Thenzawl and about 137 km from Aizawl. You see it from a viewing tower across the gorge; there is no safe way to the foot and people who have tried have died, which is also how the fall is said to have got its name, from a swimmer called Vantawnga. It is at its best from July to November and thin by February.
