About Unkal Lake

Unkal is a 19th century irrigation tank on the northern edge of Hubballi that is now the twin city's main evening spot. A landscaped garden and walking path run along the bund, boats are hired from a jetty, and a statue of Swami Vivekananda stands on an islet in the water. It sits on the Hubballi to Dharwad road, 6 km from Hubballi centre, and is best after 4 pm when the heat drops. The lake fills to the brim after a good monsoon.
