About Chandramouleshwara Temple, Unkal
This 11th century Kalyani Chalukya temple in Unkal village is the oldest building in the Hubballi area and an ASI protected monument. It is unusual for having four entrances facing the four directions and a Shiva linga carved with four faces, so the deity is worshipped from every side. The stone screens, doorframes and lathe-turned pillars are typical of the later Chalukya style. It is a small site and takes under an hour; visit early or at Mahashivaratri when it is decorated.
