About Tripurantakam

Tripurantakam is a temple town in the north west of Prakasam district, counted as the eastern gateway of Srisailam. The Tripurantakeswara Swamy Shiva temple stands on a hill and the Bala Tripura Sundari temple below is one of the Shakti peethas of Andhra. The Kakatiya rulers were patrons and the inscriptions here are important for that period. Maha Shivaratri is the main festival. It is 30 km from Markapur on the road to Srisailam.
