About Chennakesava Swamy Temple, Markapur
The Chennakesava Swamy temple is the main shrine of Markapur, a town on the road from Ongole to Srisailam. The Vishnu temple has a large gopuram and pillared halls in the Vijayanagara style and is the centre of the town during its annual festival. Markapur is also known for its slate quarries. Most travellers pass through on the way to Srisailam or Tripurantakam, and the temple is a short stop from the bus stand.
