About Topkhana, Jalore
A pillared hall in the old town that started as a Sanskrit school under the Paramara king Bhoja in the 11th century, was rebuilt as a mosque during the Khalji period, and later served as the Jodhpur artillery store, which gave it the name. The carved pillars and the layers of reuse are what make it interesting. Ten minutes on foot from the fort path, so see it before the climb.
What to see and do
- Bhoja's 11th-century pillared hall
- Khalji-period mosque conversion
- Later use as an artillery magazine
