About Bhinmal
Bhinmal was Bhillamala, capital of the Gurjaras in the 7th century, the town where the mathematician Brahmagupta wrote his great work in 628 and which the Chinese pilgrim Xuanzang visited. Almost nothing of that survives above ground, but the Varaha Shyam temple, dedicated to the boar avatar, has old sculpture, and the modern 72 Jinalaya complex is the largest Jain temple in the district. A town for people who like their history in the head.
