About Timangarh Fort
A hill fort north of Karauli founded around 1100 and rebuilt in the 13th century by Timanpal, whose name it carries. It has been a ruin for centuries and was notorious for the theft of its carved images, which turned up in dealers around the world. What remains is a very large walled enclosure with broken temples, a lake, and fine loose sculpture. Take a local guide from Masalpur.
