About Shri Mahavir Ji
One of the great Digambar Jain pilgrimages, on the Gambhir river between Hindaun and Karauli. The image of Mahavir is said to have been dug up by a cowherd at Chandanpur, and the temple, dharamshalas and museum around it are large and well kept. The Chaitra fair around Mahavir Jayanti in March or April ends with a rath yatra to the river and draws local Meena and Gujjar communities as well as Jains.
