About Karauli City Palace
The old palace of the Karauli Yadavs, largely 18th century under Gopal Singh, built in red local sandstone with painted rooms, jali screens and a durbar hall that still keeps its frescoes. It is lightly visited and has the feel of a house rather than a monument. Bhanwar Vilas, the 1938 palace on the edge of town, is where the family lives and takes guests.
