About Tilwara and the Mallinath Fair
Rawal Mallinath was a 14th-century Rathore chief who became a folk saint, and the fair in his name on the dry Luni riverbed at Tilwara is one of the biggest livestock fairs in Rajasthan, running for a fortnight from Chaitra Ekadashi, usually late March into April. Horses, camels and Tharparkar cattle are traded and the riverbed becomes a town of tents. Outside the fair, the temple on the bank is small and quiet.
