About Siwana Fort
A 10th-century Paramara fort on a granite hill in the Chhappan range, taken by Alauddin Khalji in 1308 after a long siege and later the fort the Jodhpur Rathores fell back to in hard times. The walls and gates survive along the ridge and the climb is stiff but short. The Halideshwar Mahadev temple in the hills nearby and the granite country around are worth the detour from Balotra.
What to see and do
- Paramara-period walls along the ridge
- Site of the 1308 Khalji siege
- Halideshwar Mahadev temple in the hills
- Views over the Chhappan granite country
