About Tambdi Surla Mahadev Temple

A small black basalt temple of the 12th century Kadamba rulers, hidden in forest at the foot of the Ghats, and one of the very few of its kind to survive in Goa. The carvings include a lotus ceiling and ornate doorways, and it is peaceful with only birdsong and a stream nearby. A trail behind the temple leads into the forest and to a waterfall in the monsoon, best taken with a local guide. It is also a short drive from Dudhsagar.
