About Rivona Caves

A cluster of rock-cut cells of Buddhist origin at Rivona in Sanguem, later used by Hindu ascetics and known locally as the Pandava caves. They are carved into laterite at the end of a village path, and a few cells hold simple shrines. The site gets very few visitors and has no facilities, so a local to guide you helps. Mind the slippery rock and any wasps' nests in the cells.
