About Srisailam Mallikarjuna Temple

One of the twelve Jyotirlingas and also a Shakti Peetha, standing on a Nallamala hill above the Krishna river and the Srisailam dam. The temple is on the Andhra bank and is reached by ghat roads from Nandyal (about 160 km) or from Hyderabad through the Nallamala tiger reserve, which closes to night traffic. Shivaratri and Karthika month draw the biggest crowds; the ropeway to Patala Ganga ghat and the dam viewpoint are a short walk away.
