About Ahobilam Nava Narasimha Temples
Nine Narasimha shrines spread over the Nallamala hills, split into Lower Ahobilam in the village and Upper Ahobilam 8 km uphill. From Upper Ahobilam a forest trail of around 5 km climbs to Jwala Narasimha and the Ugra Stambham rock, where the deity is believed to have appeared. Start early, carry water and go with company; leopards and bears live in these forests and the trail is not always marked.
