About Mahanandi Temple
A Shiva temple at the foot of the Nallamala hills, 15 km east of Nandyal, famous for the crystal clear spring water that fills its tanks. The water comes from under the sanctum and flows into large bathing pools kept at a steady, pleasant temperature through the year. Mahanandi is the chief of the Nava Nandi shrines around Nandyal; the town itself takes its name from these Nandi temples.
