About Sitamarhi Cave, Hisua
A small chamber cut into a single granite boulder in the fields near Hisua, polished inside in a way that recalls the Barabar caves and probably of similar age. Local tradition makes it the place where Sita lived during her exile, near the ashram of Valmiki, and where Lav and Kush were born. There is a small shrine and a mela on Ram Navami. It takes half an hour, and is worth it for the oddness of a Mauryan-looking cave in a rice field.
What to see and do
