About Sekhodeora Ashram
Jayaprakash Narayan set up this Sarvodaya ashram in the forested south of Nawada in the early 1950s, after he turned from socialism to Gandhian constructive work, and lived here for long spells with Prabhavati. It still runs as an ashram and school, with his cottage kept as he left it. Kauakol is a remote block and the roads are slow; it is a place for people who care about JP rather than a sight. His birth anniversary on 11 October is marked.
