About Kakolat Falls
A 150-foot fall off a granite ledge on the edge of the Kaimur uplands, 33 km south of Nawada, into a wide pool where half of Nawada bathes on a hot Sunday. Legend has a king cursed into a python here and freed by Krishna, which gives the Vishuwa fair at Chaitra Sankranti in mid-April. Flow is strongest July to October and the rocks are slick then; the pool has taken lives, so stay on the shallow side.
What to see and do
