About Gunawan Ji Jain Tirth
Three kilometres from Nawada, the place where Indrabhuti Gautam, the chief disciple of Mahavira known as Gautam Swami, attained nirvana. Like Pawapuri there is a Jal Mandir in the middle of a pond reached by a causeway, and an older temple on the bank. Jains visit it on the Pawapuri circuit, especially around Diwali, when Gautam Swami attained omniscience the morning after Mahavira nirvana. Quiet on other days.
What to see and do
- Nirvana site of Gautam Swami
- Jal Mandir in a pond, like Pawapuri
- Diwali and the day after are the big days
- Part of the Pawapuri Jain circuit
