About Shivagange

A steep rocky hill 55 km from Bengaluru on the Tumakuru highway, called Dakshina Kashi for the Gangadhareshwara temple carved into its base. The climb of about 3 km on cut steps passes the Olakal Teertha spring, a monolithic Nandi and several small shrines before ending at a narrow summit with railings. Monkeys are aggressive here, so keep food packed away. Start before 8 am to avoid the heat on the bare rock.
