About Makalidurga

A rocky hill 60 km from Bengaluru with a small ruined fort and a Shiva shrine on top, reached by a 3 km trail that starts beside the Makalidurga railway station. From the summit the railway line curves past a large lake below, which is the picture everyone comes for. The trek is run by the forest department and must be booked in advance online. Carry water, there is none on the trail.
