About Santebennur Pushkarni

A square stepped tank with a pillared pavilion rising from its centre, built in the 16th century by the Nayaka chief Hanumappa Nayaka of Santebennur. Stone steps descend on all four sides and a narrow bridge leads to the two storeyed pavilion, one of the finest tank structures in the state. The Ranganatha temple stands beside it. Santebennur is on the Channagiri to Shivamogga road, about 40 km from Davanagere.
