About Mysuru Zoo
Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, started in 1892 by Maharaja Chamaraja Wadiyar, is one of the oldest zoos in India and among the best kept. Enclosures for gorillas, giraffes, tigers, elephants and rhinos are set along shaded walking paths, and the full loop takes two to three hours. The zoo shuts every Tuesday. Karanji Lake with its walk-through aviary and butterfly park is next door and can be combined in the same half day.
