About Chamundi Hills

A hill on the edge of Mysuru city topped by the Chamundeshwari temple, the family deity of the Wadiyar kings. Pilgrims climb about 1,000 stone steps from the foot of the hill, passing the 16th century monolithic Nandi carved from a single rock about two thirds of the way up. A road also goes to the top, and the viewpoint near the temple looks over the whole city. Ashada Fridays in July and Dasara draw the biggest crowds.
