About Mubarakpur Silk Weavers
A weaving town 12 km east of Azamgarh where several thousand handloom families make silk sarees in the Banarasi manner, much of it sold on through Varanasi under that name. The lanes rattle with looms and the wholesale traders will let you see work in progress and sell direct. Mubarakpur is a working town rather than a sight, and better for it.
What to see and do
- Handloom silk sarees woven in the lanes
- Wholesale traders selling direct
- The sound of looms in every gali
