About Mantralayam
Mantralayam, on the Tungabhadra river in Manvi taluk, is where the Madhva saint Sri Raghavendra Swamy entered Brindavana alive in 1671. His stone Brindavana draws daily pilgrims from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra. The matha runs free meals and lodging, and the Aradhana festival in August or September fills the town for a week. It is about 40 km south east of Raichur, with buses from Raichur and Adoni and a train stop at Mantralayam Road station 15 km away.
