About Mandalgarh Fort

A frontier fort of Mewar on the Hadoti side, held and lost and held again: Rana Kumbha rebuilt it, Akbar took it in 1567 on his way to Chittor, and Shah Jahan stayed here in the 1620s before he was emperor. The walls run round the top of a low hill above the town, with temples and tanks inside and views towards the Triveni Sangam, where the Banas, Berach and Menali meet. Little visited and not maintained.
