About Bijolia Temples
Three Shiva temples of the 11th and 12th centuries, Hazareshwar, Mahakal and Undeshwar, around the Mandakini kund on the Uparmal plateau; Undeshwar's lingam sits below ground level and is usually under water. On a rock face nearby is the Bijolia inscription of 1170, the long Chauhan genealogy that historians rely on. The Parshvanath Jain temple on the edge of town is older still. Bijolia also saw the peasant movement of 1897 to 1941.
