About Kondaveedu Fort
Kondaveedu was the capital of the Reddy kings in the 14th and 15th centuries and the hill fort has 21 bastions, gateways, granaries and temple ruins spread across the top. It later passed to the Gajapatis, Vijayanagara, the Qutb Shahis and the French. A ghat road built in 2016 now reaches the fort, so the old trek from the village is optional. It lies 25 km west of Guntur near Chilakaluripet, and is best walked in the cool of morning.
