About Kolvi Caves

Some fifty Buddhist caves cut into a laterite hill in the south of the district, dated to about the 5th century, with monastic cells, chaitya halls, rock-cut stupas and a large seated Buddha. Two smaller groups at Vinayaka and Hathiagaur lie nearby. It is a long drive south from Jhalawar and the site is unstaffed, but it is the main Buddhist rock-cut group in Rajasthan.
