About Khimsar Fort and Dunes
Rao Karamsi, a son of Rao Jodha, built the fort in 1523 and the same family turned it into a hotel, which is how most people see it. Six kilometres out, the Khimsar Dunes Village puts thatched huts on a small dune field with a lake, and blackbuck are common in the scrub. It is midway between Jodhpur and Nagaur, so it works as an overnight for the fort at Nagaur.
