About Ahhichatragarh, Nagaur Fort

A flat-land fort of the 12th century that the Mughals and then the Jodhpur Rathores rebuilt as a pleasure palace, with water channels, fountains and painted pavilions. It sat in ruins until a restoration from the 1990s onwards, which won an Aga Khan award, brought the gardens and the hydraulics back. The Nagaur Cattle Fair in late January or February fills the ground outside the walls with thousands of bullocks, camels and horses.
