About Kappatagudda

Kappatagudda is a range of dry hills running about 60 km through Gadag district, declared a wildlife sanctuary in 2019 and known for its medicinal plants, which is why it is called the Sahyadri of north Karnataka. The Nandiveri matha on the ridge is a pilgrim spot, and ridge walks pass wind turbines with wide views over the plains. Walk in the early morning; there is no shade and no water on the hills. Dambal, 20 km from Gadag, is the usual base and also has the Doddabasappa temple with its star-shaped plan.
