About Kansua Mahadev

A Shiva temple on the edge of Kota with an inscription dated 738 CE naming a Maurya ruler Dhavala, one of the oldest dated records in Rajasthan. Local tradition makes the site the ashram of the sage Kanva. The temple has been rebuilt, but the sculpture and the thousand-linga stone are early, and it stays a quiet neighbourhood shrine.
